13x7 sound control! **Introducing Our New Sound Control Drums
Reapers come in.. Yep, he's on the way.
Sound control Drums are Sold at Atlanta Drum Shop and Made from a solid resin composite, our Sound Control Drums tackle a common problem traditional wooden drums face: heat up when playing outside. Or under the sun, wooden drums can sometimes act as magnifiers, causing the wood to get very hot inside the shells due to the heat from the drum heads from Playing outside.
In contrast, our composite material remains stable, ensuring optimal performance. Renowned for their strength, durability, and sound-canceling properties, these drums deliver a clean sound with sharp attack, medium sustain, and quick release.
With advanced technology that ensures a focused, articulate sound in both live and studio settings, these drums are perfect for outdoor gigs. They are reliable and resilient without the need for climate control.
The heat from the sun causes wood to shrink or swell due to its hygroscopic nature. Wood absorbs moisture from the air, and when exposed to high temperatures, such as direct sunlight, it can lose moisture rapidly. This loss of moisture leads to shrinking, while increased humidity can cause the wood to absorb moisture and swell. In the context of drums, this fluctuation in size can affect the drum's performance and sound quality, making traditional wooden drums more susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity than composite materials, which maintain stability and resist these issues.

Pros and cons.. stave vs segmented drums
Переглядів 683 місяці тому
I recently received an email asking about stave drum shells and segmented drum shells. Both have their advantages and it ultimately depends on personal preference. Stave drum shells offer exceptional resonance and rich sound and look, while segmented drum shells provide a balance between tonal qualities and strength. It's best to experiment and choose the one that resonates with your playing st...

The cherry tree grew next to the fence line because somebody was probably eating cherries next to the fence line while they were passing by and spit their seed over there.

Thanks for the video. For my first attempt at a conversion, I took a CB700 (pearl? - not sure) 10”x7” concert tom and converted it to a double headed drum. I removed all the hardware and crappy torn wrap, glued the spots where the plys were separating. I have a router but not on a table, so I used a flat file to cut the edge. I used a piece of wire to copy the profile of the other side. once I got the first cut to match the profile, I went around the entire drum filing down 1” at a time, until it matched the previous cut. It actually worked! I Then sanded the shell 120-240-400 by hand until glass smooth, stained and polyurethaned. Converted from 4 lugs to 5(math!) replaced with tube lugs and new rims. It Came out pretty good!

I purchased a used Dunnet Gergo Berlei bronze snare. Like some drummers out there, I changed the snare wires, the batter and snare side head. I had such a hard time getting the throw off back together that I was about to put it up for sale on reverb. Your video was very helpful with assembling the R4 throw off. Thank you sir.
